Over $50,000 raised to donate to the community
Since 2018, Moneyworks has been a premier sponsor of the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival, and Carey has been the organiser and main volunteer. Built from scratch in 2018, the 2019 Garden Festival was a great success, 2020 was Covid cancelled, and 2021 was Covid cancelled (3 weeks before the event, but still raised over $15,000 from kind donations of the ticket purchases).
The 2022 Garden Festival was held on Sunday 20th November, amidst rain and thunderstorms, but the 1,500 ticket purchasers turned out in droves before the rain and thunder set in (at 2.30pm). There were 10 gardens to visit, as well as 12 artists in the concurrent 'A Passion for Art' event.
With over 12,000 people garden visits (an average of 8 gardens for each person), the Garden Festival had terrific feedback from people who had a wonderful time.
As well as around $50,000 raised from ticket sales (sponsors cover most of the costs), there were four community groups raising funds by selling food, plants and other things to buy, who raised around $4,000 for their organisation.
From the survey sent out to ticket purchasers we received some great ideas to make the Rotary Cambridge Garden Festival even better, but are taking a break in 2023 and the Festival will be back in 2024.
The photo above is of Paul doing a double volunteering shift as a welcomer, while Peter and Carey were rushing around town from 7am until 7pm on the day, making sure that everything was running well.
Thanks to all our clients who were able to join us.
